MMeets: Foresight – Understanding Design Futures
Sunday 26 March 2023
10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Queen Victoria Gardens opposite the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria)
Foresight, put simply, is long-term thinking. It is the practice of thinking systematically about things that might happen, so we can be better prepared for them if they eventuate. SV has engaged in foresight to get an understanding of the potential futures of energy and materials, and have created eight scenarios that speak to the imagination to turn these speculations into conversation starters for discussion. Using a blend of AI and creativity, these scenarios tell visual stories about what the future might look like in different situations. Come learn more about them, and understand how they might impact the action that we need to take at this free exhibition.

MMeets: Scrapping the Take-Make-Waste Economy for Circular Design
Monday 27 March 2023
8:30 am to 10:30 am
Queen Victoria Gardens opposite the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria)
Circular innovation is already paving the way to better outcomes for the environment as brands implement circular design concepts and move from a take-make-waste linear economy towards a circular economy. Hear from a series of experts and leaders who will discuss the rise of biomaterials and biophilic design, circular design principles to design out waste and pollution, and regenerative design as a business model highlighting social enterprises with a focus on people, planet and purpose. This interactive event will involve a series of lightning talks followed by breakout group activities to explore the circular design processes that take place before products reach the consumer. Light refreshments will be provided for this session.
