To do this, we need sustainability and circular economy ideas to be more normalised and explained in a way that translates into action. And this is where illustration comes in! Visuals can stick in long-term memory, they can transmit messages faster and also trigger emotions and actions. So in this workshop, learn how to use drawing to simplify complex ideas and communicate sustainability concepts more efficiently. Workshop
Visual Thinking for Sustainability Day 2
In this workshop, learn how to use drawing to simplify and communicate sustainability concepts for greater impact and action.
Have you ever found that your ideas or complex sustainability topics you're really passionate about don't resonate or drive action as much as you would like?
Perhaps drawing is something you can use in your toolkit for more effective communication.
We need sustainability and circular economy ideas to be more normalised and explained in a way that translates into action.
This is where illustration comes in. Visuals can stick in long-term memory, they can transmit messages faster and also trigger emotions and actions.
So, this workshop is for anyone who wants to develop their skills in drawing and visual thinking to more effectively communicate and simplify sustainability concepts for greater impact and action.
You'll walk away with a deeper understanding of drawing principles, formats, shapes and a template to create a clear brief, a proven illustration design process and a finished illustration of your very own (of a sustainability topic/concept of your choice).
With plenty of fun drawing activities, this workshop will show you the untapped creative potential you have in drawing.

CE Theory of Change-Framework for Stakeholder Action and Measurement (Hybrid)
The Victorian government has already committed to a large-scale transition towards a Circular Economy (CE) by 2030. At present, it is unclear how to accomplish this systemic shift or accelerate the process. This talk will discuss the potential of the Circular Economy Theory of Change (ToC) as a tool for charting implementation pathways towards a more sustainable and circular economy. Attendees will gain insights into how the CE ToC can be used to guide stakeholder action, measure progress towards CE goals, and develop bespoke CE roadmaps for businesses.
About CUTransitions Talk: This is an event organised by the Centre for Urban Transitions for the Centre's researchers from all career stages to present their research with the opportunity for discussion and reflections from peers.
Important Information: This is a hybrid event - an online link will be sent in the order confirmation email for those who cannot attend in person.

Activating design for a circular economy
The Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) and Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence (PSCoE) invite you to join us online at 2 pm (AEST) on Tuesday, 23 May 2023 for a joint webinar on the importance of activating design for a circular economy, Designing-out waste and pollution is a given as we pursue circular outcomes and impacts. The role, relevance and value of good design is one of the essential tools but to move forward we must go beyond talking about ‘design’ and accelerate its adoption and application across all domains and disciplines including: product and packaging design, architecture and interior design, clothing and textile design, digital and service design, and all the engineering disciplines involved in the built environment and infrastructure. In this webinar we’ll share insights from those designers and businesses who are leading the way, and having a positive impact on the environment, consumers, and the bottom line.

Designing Circularity into the textiles industry
The journey that our clothes and fabrics go through before they reach us is long and arduous. It involves design, manufacturing, sales, wear, and - inevitably - disposal.
