Description
The Dairy Sector Food Waste Action Plan is the Australian dairy industry's response to the government's goal of halving food waste by 2030. It addresses the identified issue of dairy being one of the top food waste sources. The plan, developed in collaboration with industry stakeholders, aims to build on existing initiatives and practices to reduce dairy food waste.
The Dairy Food Waste Account reveals that 0.71 million tonnes of dairy food waste are currently being generated, with key categories being by-products from cheese production, process wastes, and finished product disposal. This collective effort increases transparency and provides a collaborative pathway for the industry to tackle the waste challenge.
